Florence + The Machine will return this fall with their sixth studio album, Everybody Scream, set to arrive on October 31. It marks the first full-length release from Florence Welch and her band since 2022’s Dance Fever.
In the years since, Welch has remained active with a steady stream of collaborations and soundtrack contributions. She appeared on Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and the Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow, recorded with Everything Is Recorded, and covered No Doubt’s “Just A Girl” for Yellowjackets as well as Vera Lynn’s “The White Cliffs of Dover” for New Look.
Teasers leading up to the announcement hinted at the project’s eerie tone. Last week, Welch shared a short video of herself digging a hole in the ground before screaming into it. Earlier this summer, she posted behind-the-scenes slides, including one showing her alongside IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen and another featuring a whiteboard scrawled with cryptic phrases.
While details such as the tracklist and guest features are still under wraps, the timing of the release — a Halloween drop with an ominous title — suggests Welch is steering the record toward something theatrically dark.
Everybody Scream will be released October 31, with pre-orders now available.
