Starting her songwriting journey during her shifts as a bus driver, Lizzen has quickly gained recognition in the R&B genre. Recently, on June 27, she released her eagerly awaited debut album, “On The Bus,” showcasing collaborations with R&B heavyweights.
Hailing from Akron, Ohio, Lizzen‘s musical creativity flourished as she penned songs while navigating her daily bus route. In 2023, she gained traction with hits like “Audacity” and “Care For You,” channeling a 90s R&B vibe, especially with her popular track “Why.”
“Why” is an empowering song that addresses breaking free from a toxic relationship and reclaiming self-respect. Early in 2024, Robin Thicke added his distinctive vocals and compelling lyrics to the track. The album, released under Run-It-Up Records, features eight songs that explore Lizzen’s emotional and romantic experiences. It pairs her classic R&B style with icons like Keith Sweat on “Right & Wrong” and Jacquees on “Audacity.” Another notable song, “Feelings (It’s Me),” introduces her talents to new listeners in a powerful way.
In the lead-up to the album’s release, Lizzen created buzz-worthy moments, including a song request from comedian Kountry Wayne, accolades from Jacquees, and a live performance of her hit by Robin Thicke at his From The Block show. The collaboration with Thicke sparked over 100,000 searches on Shazam.
Upon its debut, “On The Bus” ranked among the top five R&B albums on Apple Music. Lizzen expressed her gratitude to her fans on social media for this achievement last week.
