The music video features a cameo appearance from rapper Chalie Boy, whose 2009 track “I Look Good“ is sampled in the song. Additionally, Monét’s daughter and mother make heartwarming appearances, adding a personal touch to the visual.
Monét shared her feelings about the creation of the video in an Instagram post, expressing that it was crafted with genuine love for her craft.
The track “On My Mama” was co-produced by D’Mile, Deputy, and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman. It’s slated to be included in Monét’s upcoming album titled Jaguar II, scheduled for release on August 25 under RCA Records.
Monét describes “On My Mama,” as a song that serves as a soundtrack to positive affirmations. She wrote the track during the postpartum period when she was not feeling her best. The lyrics reflect how she wanted to feel, promoting a positive mental state through self-affirming words. Monét emphasizes that speaking these lyrics about oneself can elevate one’s frequency and enhance their confidence.
The upcoming album Jaguar II, which includes tracks like “Smoke” featuring Lucky Daye and “Party Girls” featuring Buju Banton, will consist of 11 songs. This album follows Monét’s independently released EP Jaguar from 2020.
Monét is set to launch The Jaguar Tour on September 6 in Detroit, Michigan. The tour will take her to major cities such as Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Chicago, concluding on November 15 in London, U.K.
