Lizzo‘s recent show in Sydney took an unexpected turn when the crowd introduced her to an Australian tradition: the shoey. In a viral TikTok video, fans encouraged the pop star to drink from her shoe before putting it back on her foot.

Confused by the request, Lizzo asked, “Take a drink from my shoe? Is that what you’re saying?” Luckily, she had some tequila with her and decided to pour it into her shoe instead of drinking directly from it. “A reminder that this is f*cked up,” she told the crowd.

With a playful reference to her song, “About Damn Time,” Lizzo took a long sip from the shoe, exclaiming, “Here goes nothing, b*tch.”

After finishing her first shoey, she jokingly added, “F*ck Australia. How are you guys still walking if that’s how you take shots? I am scared that we’re not going to get through the rest of the show if I don’t start singing and singing soon.”

Despite the unexpected shoey experience, Lizzo is set to continue her tour and head to New Zealand and Japan for her next shows.
