As an homage to her romance with Ben Affleck, pop icon Jennifer Lopez offered a sneak peek into her latest love ballad, “Midnight Trip to Vegas“. The song is a charming tribute to the duo’s Las Vegas nuptials and is set to feature on Lopez’s upcoming album, “This Is Me Now”.
On July 17, Lopez gave her fans a taste of this latest love song, celebrating the couple’s one-year wedding anniversary, celebrated at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. The 20-second teaser presented a lyrically profound ballad, taking listeners on a trip down the couple’s memory lane. The lyrics, “Then you whispered in my ear/ Said, ‘let’s get out of here’/ We can disappear tonight/ What about a midnight trip to Vegas?”, rendered by Lopez in a selfie video on her “On the JLo” page, showcase her poignant reflection on the couple’s bond.
Beginning with the line, “I always dreamed that I’d find somebody like you”, the song delves into the intimacy of their union, juxtaposed with the chaos that accompanies their public lives. Lyrics mentioning ‘orchid arrangements’, ‘dresses and pastries’, and ‘room reservations’ paint a vivid picture of their wedding, while ‘paps helicopters’ and ‘caught in the matrix’ allude to their lives in the public eye.
Lopez commemorated their first anniversary on Instagram, writing, “One year since our Midnight Trip To Vegas … 🤍♠️❤️ Go to On The JLo for a special surprise… #ThisIsMeNow,” alongside captivating pictures of her in a shimmering dress.
“Midnight Trip to Vegas” is a part of the yet-to-be-released “This Is Me… Now”, a follow-up to her 2002 album “This Is Me… Then“, which was also inspired by Affleck. Notably, this marks at least the third song penned by Lopez in honor of Affleck, including “Dear Ben” from the earlier album and its upcoming sequel, “Dear Ben Pt. II”.
