R&B singer Coco Jones has achieved a major milestone in her career, as her current single “ICU” has reached number 10 on the urban radio chart this week. This marks the first time that she has landed a top-10 hit on this particular radio format.
Jones joins the likes of Chris Brown, SZA, and Summer Walker as one of the few R&B-focused artists charting within the top 10 at urban radio. The success of “ICU” is not limited to radio, however, as the Camper-produced track has also caught on at Billboard. It debuted at number 88 on the Hot 100 chart in the week ending April 1, and has since risen to number 74.
In addition, “ICU” has climbed the ranks on two of Billboard’s other charts, reaching number 12 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and number 15 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart this week.
The success of “ICU” has led to multiple television appearances for Jones, including performances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Jennifer Hudson Show. The song is taken from Jones’ 2022 debut EP, “What I Didn’t Tell You,” which was released last fall on High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings. The song also appears on the deluxe version of the EP, which was issued earlier this year.
According to Jones, “What I Didn’t Tell You” is all about the stories that happen off camera, and the project aims to share her real-life experiences with fans and show that she’s just like them. Despite her success, Jones remains grounded and hopes to connect with her audience through her music.
Looking ahead, Jones has several upcoming shows and festivals, including two sold-out nights at The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles on April 26 and 27. She is set to perform at the Strength of a Woman Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Broccoli City in Washington, D.C.
Listeners can check out “ICU” and see for themselves why Jones is rapidly rising in the R&B world.
