With “Cuff It,” Beyoncé has won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. PJ Morton (“Please Don’t Walk Away”), Mary J. Blige (“Good Morning Gorgeous”), Muni Long (“Hrs & Hrs”), and Jazmine Sullivan (“Hurt Me So Good”) were also nominated, but the superstar won the prize. 

With 31 career accolades, Beyoncé is currently tied for the most victories in Grammy history. The ceremony’s host, Trevor Noah, joked that she may be caught in traffic since she wasn’t there to receive her most recent Grammy. Finally, she arrived for the ceremony.

Renaissance, Beyoncé’s eighth studio album and first solo effort since 2016’s Lemonade, has “Cuff It” as its fourth song. In the time between her solo albums, she released a live album, worked on a full-length project with her husband Jay-Z, and contributed to an album for Disney’s 2019 The Lion King remake. Renaissance premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums list, much like her prior six solo albums, making her the first female artist to accomplish the feat.

Beyoncé entered the day as the Best R&B Song winner with the most awards, and she has since won for Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“Break My Soul”) and Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Plastic Off the Sofa”). Beyoncé, the most successful female artist in Grammy history, has never before been nominated in a Dance/Electronic category.

Beyoncé received nominations for Record of the Year (“Break My Soul”), Album of the Year (“Renaissance”), Song of the Year (“Break My Soul”), and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album among the other nine categories at this year’s Grammy Awards (Renaissance).

Beyoncé was nominated for two further awards, Best R&B Performance (“Virgo’s Groove”) and Best Song Written for Visual Media (“Be Alive”), but she was defeated in both of those categories by Muni Long and the songwriters of Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”
