It’s the 2023 crossover event! Omar Apollo, an R&B superstar, and SZA, an eclectic singer-songwriter, are going on tour together! Earlier this year, Apollo released his first album Ivory, which included the Daniel Cesar collaboration “Invincible” and the TikTok mega-hit single “Evergreen.” We couldn’t be more pleased that the out singer-songwriter has just received his first nomination for Best New Artist at the Grammys.
Last Friday saw the long-awaited release of SZA’s sophomore album, which ignited social media after a five-year wait. Since its release in 2017, the pop culture phenomenon’s debut album has remained on the Billboard Top 200 chart and is now regarded as a modern classic.
The anticipation for her follow-up album, S.O.S., was tremendous. There are 23 songs total, including past singles “Good Days,” “Shirt,” and “I Hate U,” as well as several brand-new songs like “Blind” and “Kill Bill” that have already been popular on TikTok and Twitter. The album is anticipated to become her first to reach number one on the Top 200 list the following week.
On her Instagram account early this morning, SZA announced the tour. “Time to take this shit on the road!” she wrote, noting Apollo as the special guest.
Oh, they’re going to trample on our hearts and rip them out. The S.O.S. tour’s North American leg begins in Colombus, Ohio, in the spring of 2019 and concludes in Los Angeles, California. Apollo shared the good news on social media with a short post, which sparked enthusiastic responses from both followers and famous people. Disney Channel actor Matthew Scott Montgomery said, “OMG you two together… u know exactly what you’re doing.”
