Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., known by his stage name Young Dolph, was killed in a shooting that took place in South Memphis.
Young Dolph was born in Chicago then moved to Memphis at a young age. The rapper is known for his fifth studio album ‘Rich Slave’ that was released on August 14, 2020.
The shooting happened at Makeda’s Butter Cookies. The shop owner stated that Young Dolphin walked into the shop to buy some cookies around 1 p.m., when someone drove up and shot the rapper. Currently, the identity of the shooter remains unknown.
As soon as the news broke out, people rushed to the scene. They were devastated to hear about the death of the rapper. Some expressed their anger by cursing, while others called for an end to gun violence. Young Dolph was loved by many in the Memphis community. He was known for the charity work and donations that he used to do. During thanksgiving, he used to distribute turkeys to schools and speak to students.
On the other hand, artists like Chance The Rapper, OFFSET, and Gucci Mane paid tribute to the late rapper on social media.

Previously, in September 2017, Young Dolph was also shot and hospitalized for two weeks. He was in a critical condition but was able to recover from his wounds.
