Two vocalists, Craig David and JoJo, who came up navigating different hemispheres of the 2000s R&B world, now meet in perfect harmony on “In It With You.” A sincere and resonant ballad is lifted from Craig David’s upcoming album, Commitment.
Produced by longtime David collaborator Mike Brainchild, “In It With You” plays it close to the chest sonically. The beat floats on a soft bed of warm keys, clean drums, and subtle string textures, letting the lyrics take the front seat. There’s an easy chemistry here. JoJo’s voice — supple, aching — glides effortlessly around David’s steadier tone, especially in the chorus where they sing: “I’ll always be right by your side / There ain’t nothing we can’t get through.” The sentiment doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but the delivery makes it hit like a quiet promise whispered after a long fight.

This is the fifth taste of Commitment, out August 8 via Believe UK, and it might be the album’s most straightforward love song yet. Previous singles like “In Your Hands” and “SOS” tapped into themes of inner healing and emotional risk, but “In It With You” rests in the calm after the storm. There’s no grand declaration, just a grounded, adult kind of intimacy.
Craig David has always had a knack for giving sincerity a sleek finish, and with Commitment, he seems more focused than ever on cutting to the emotional core. If “In It With You” is any indication, this album might be his most emotionally lucid offering yet — not heavy-handed, just human.
