Following their Grammy-winning collaboration on 44/876, Sting and Shaggy have reunited for a fresh single, “Til A Mawnin,” which celebrates the heart of reggae culture—Sound Systems. Released via VP Records, the track blends Sting’s melodic sensibilities with Shaggy’s dynamic flow, capturing both the rich traditions of reggae and a contemporary twist.
The song, co-written by Sting, Shaggy, and reggae legend Henry “Junjo” Lawes, is built around the iconic “I’m Not Getting Crazy” riddim, originally produced by Lawes for the Roots Radics Band. This riddim has been a foundation for several reggae classics, including Yellowman’s “Getting Married” and Don Carlos’s “I’m Not Crazy.”
Produced by Shaggy and Shane Hoosong, the song not only honors the Jamaican Sound System culture but also showcases the duo’s collaborative energy. The accompanying music video, directed by Jay Will, highlights the enduring influence of reggae on global music and culture.
“Til A Mawnin” was mixed by four-time Grammy Award winner Robert Orton and mastered by Gene Grimaldi at Oasis Mastering, ensuring the track’s authenticity and polished sound.
Sound Systems have played a pivotal role in shaping Jamaican music, from ska to rocksteady and, most notably, reggae. The cultural movement has left an indelible mark on the music industry, and with “Til A Mawnin,” Sting and Shaggy bring this legacy to the forefront once again.
Fans can see the duo perform live at the Reggae Rise Up Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida, on March 13. Sting, who is currently touring South America, will continue his global journey with upcoming dates in South Africa and a co-headlining show with Billy Joel in Syracuse, New York, on April 11.
