Billie Eilish is ending 2024 on a high note as Apple Music has named her the Artist of the Year. The nine-time Grammy winner expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, “Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry, and I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career.”

Rachel Newman, Apple Music’s senior director of content and editorial, reflected on Eilish’s journey, noting, “From the moment we first heard ‘Ocean Eyes’ nearly a decade ago, we’ve been fans and champions of Billie’s work. It’s always special when a young artist can connect with so many people so quickly. But what’s been truly remarkable about watching her evolve over the course of this last year isn’t just that her voice and artistry have continued to resonate so widely. It’s that she’s blossomed as bravely and honestly as she has — on her own terms, in her own way.”

2024 has been a landmark year for Eilish, who began with two Grammy victories for her track from the Barbie movie, “What Was I Made For?,” winning both song of the year and best song written for visual media. She released her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, in May, which quickly topped Apple Music’s all-genre albums chart in 138 countries and secured the number two spot on the Billboard 200.

Looking ahead to 2025, Eilish is a contender for seven more Grammy awards. Her album Hit Me Hard and Soft is nominated for album of the year and best pop vocal album. The single “Birds of a Feather” has received nominations for record of the year, song of the year, and best pop solo performance. Additionally, the “Over Now Extended Edit” of “L’Amour De Ma Vie” is up for best dance pop recording, and her collaboration with Charli XCX on “Guess” is nominated for best pop duo/group performance.
