Khalid Earns Platinum RIAA Certification for ‘Numb’ With Marshmello

Khalid

Khalid has received yet another milestone in his illustrious career, as his 2022 collaboration with electronic DJ and producer Marshmello, “Numb”, has officially been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The track has now surpassed over one million equivalent units sold, marking a significant achievement for the duo.

Released on June 10, 2022, “Numb” was the second collaboration between Khalid and Marshmello, following their highly successful 2017 track, “Silence”, which was certified six-times platinum. Their latest team-up has proven to be equally successful, with “Numb” making waves across multiple Billboard charts shortly after its release. It peaked at No. 2 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart, No. 3 on both the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs charts, and No. 10 on Pop Airplay. On the Billboard Hot 100, the track reached No. 40, becoming one of Khalid’s 32 entries on the chart, where he has achieved five top 10 hits.

In addition to its impressive chart performance, “Numb” has been a streaming success. The song has amassed over 428 million streams on Spotify, further solidifying its popularity. On YouTube, the official music video has garnered more than 35 million views, reflecting the strong reception from both Khalid’s and Marshmello’s fanbases.

This new platinum certification is Khalid’s second RIAA recognition this month. Earlier, Benny Blanco’s “Eastside”, a track featuring Khalid and Halsey, was elevated to seven-times multi-platinum status. This is yet another accolade in a series of honors Khalid has accumulated throughout his career. In April 2024, he also saw four of his solo songs achieve new RIAA certifications.

Khalid’s success with “Numb” comes on the heels of his third studio album, Sincere, released on August 2, 2024, via Right Hand Music Group and RCA Records. The album, which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 43, has been a testament to Khalid’s growth as an artist. The project was preceded by singles such as “Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me,” “Adore U,” and “Ground.”

“Sincere is a combination of my life experiences; it takes inspiration from conversations that I have had with my fans, supporters, and the people that love me,” Khalid explained. “When I listen back to this project, I hear a sound that’s so unique and represents me at my best. This album is me at 26, continuing to evolve with the knowledge that I have garnered throughout the years.”

Khalid is currently supporting Sincere with his latest single, “Heatstroke”, which he performed on late-night television. The song has already reached No. 27 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart.

Looking ahead, Khalid is set to perform at several Jingle Ball events later this year, including shows presented by 96.1 The Beat and Y100. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, giving fans another opportunity to see the multi-talented artist live.
