Tinashe has announced that her new album, “Quantum Baby,” is set to be released on August 16 through Nice Life Recording Company.
This album is the next chapter in a trilogy that began with her 2023 album, “BB/ANG3L.” Tinashe describes “Quantum Baby” as a journey into deeper self-discovery. “This album is a way to explore more about myself both personally and as an artist,” she says. She adds that the title “Quantum Baby” reflects the multifaceted nature of her creativity, resisting any easy categorization.
Leading the way for the new album is Tinashe’s popular track “Nasty,” which currently holds the No. 62 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The release of her second single, “Getting No Sleep,” accompanies the album announcement. Tinashe, along with producers Nosaj Thing and Billy Lemos, wrote this lively song.
The lyrics of “Getting No Sleep” are vibrant and pictorial: “Feels Friday like, different night, same vibe / Take you outside, movie scene every time / Flick me up, I’m fitted up, so pretty, no bad side / Not a dog, but it’s in me, taking shots like I’m Lindsay.” The song’s video, directed by Jonah Haber, is available for viewing below.
“Quantum Baby” follows “BB/ANG3L,” an album where Tinashe explored themes of personal identity and societal perceptions, featuring singles such as “Needs” and “Talk To Me Nice,” with Nosaj Thing and Scoop Deville as co-producers of the latter. “I was really driven by the idea of identity on ‘BB/ANG3L.’ It’s about how I see myself and how I challenge how others see me,” Tinashe remarks. She aims to present a stripped-back and genuine portrayal of herself through her music. “The real me is who I am when I’m alone—unfiltered and genuine. That’s the reflection I want this album to show.”
