Arin Ray takes viewers on a tranquil journey through intimate moments with his latest music video for “Good Evening,” serving as the opening track from his acclaimed Phases III EP.
In the visually captivating piece, Ray is seen enjoying serene moments with his partner amidst lush greenery, offering a glimpse into the tender and personal aspects of his life. Reflecting on the creation of the video, Ray shares, “It’s always good to see the music come to life visually. Being this is a video I co-directed, it’s much more rewarding,” underscoring the significance of his involvement in the creative process.
“Good Evening” sets the tone for Phases III, Ray’s EP released under the banner of Interscope Records last year. In an exclusive interview with Rated R&B, Ray delves into his artistic vision for the project, emphasizing the importance of spontaneity and exploration. “The biggest thing we tried to do was be a bit more intentional with the records. I wasn’t trying to be as progressive, like trying to push the sound and be super musical. But I still got to play with some cool vibes and give you some new feels,” explains Ray, shedding light on his approach to crafting the EP’s sound.
Featuring the lead single “Wait So Long,” produced by the renowned Tricky Stewart, Phases III showcases Ray’s versatility and musical evolution. Describing the single’s impact, Ray shares, “From the jump, we were like, ‘Okay, this might be single material.’ I haven’t really had that sonic in a while — that type of song [or] that energy. It’s something about that record. It just spoke to us.”
On March 3, Ray is set to embark on the eagerly anticipated Phases Tour 2024, commencing in Phoenix, Arizona, and spanning across various cities including Vancouver, Portland, Dallas, New Orleans, and Toronto, among others. Joining Ray on select stops are emerging talents Rosemarie and Raiche, promising audiences an unforgettable live experience filled with soulful melodies and captivating performances.
