Chris Brown continues to prove his staying power in R&B. His latest collaboration with Bryson Tiller, “It Depends,” debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart, marking yet another milestone in Brown’s career.
With this latest release, Brown earns his eighth No. 1 on the chart. The track follows his March hit, “Mutt (CB Remix)” with Leon Thomas, which led the chart for six weeks. Other No. 1s in his catalog include standout songs like “No Guidance” with Drake, “Undecided,” “Ayo” with Tyga, and “Residuals” from earlier this year.
For Tiller, “It Depends” marks his second chart-topping entry on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart. His first was the 2017 smash “Wild Thoughts,” which dominated the chart for ten consecutive weeks.
Beyond digital sales, “It Depends” is making a strong impact across multiple Billboard rankings. The song opens at No. 2 on R&B Streaming Songs, No. 3 on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, and breaks into the top 10 on both the Hot R&B Songs (No. 5) and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (No. 9). It also lands at No. 12 on the all-genre Digital Songs chart and enters the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 43, giving Brown his 120th career entry on the flagship chart.
The track, released on July 25, was in high demand after Brown teased it on Instagram. A brief preview drew over 110,000 comments, prompting the early release. Produced by Nico Baran and RIOTUSA, “It Depends” reimagines Usher’s 1997 classic “Nice & Slow,” blending nostalgia with Brown’s signature vocal delivery and Tiller’s smooth cadence.
“It Depends” is the second single from Brown’s forthcoming album, currently titled BROWN. The project follows his Grammy-winning 11:11 (Deluxe), which arrived in April and included the critically acclaimed single “Residuals.” That track is now up for Best R&B at the 2025 Video Music Awards.
Tiller, who is currently touring alongside Brown, is set to release The Vices, part one of his double album Solace & The Vices, on August 8.
