Mariah Carey is embracing a new era with vibrant confidence, and her latest release, “Sugar Sweet,” is proof that the pop and R&B icon still knows how to make waves. The shimmering single, released July 25 via MARIAH/gamma., features Kehlani and Shenseea in a genre-blending collaboration that is both playful and polished.
Co-produced by Carey and HARV, with writing contributions from Felisha King Harvey, the track balances a modern R&B sound with nostalgic sweetness. “Sugar Sweet” debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart, marking Carey’s 17th top 10 entry there and her 11th to land in the top 5. It also made an impressive debut at No. 2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and entered the Hot R&B Songs chart at No. 17.
“Sugar Sweet” is the second official single from Carey’s upcoming sixteenth studio album, Here For It All, arriving September 26. The album follows 2018’s Caution and signals a significant creative chapter for the five-time Grammy winner. It’s also her first project under a new multi-album deal with gamma., the independent media company founded by former Apple Music executive Larry Jackson.

Carey introduced her return to the spotlight in June with “Type Dangerous,” a hip-hop soul track that debuted at No. 1 on R&B Digital Song Sales and featured a headline-making performance with Rakim at the BET Awards. That release, along with “Sugar Sweet,” suggests an album rich in both emotional depth and contemporary flair.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Carey teased that Here For It All reflects her freedom to create without compromise. With strong early chart numbers and high-profile collaborators, the album is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the fall.
