Mariah the Scientist has officially returned with her first single in nearly two years, “Burning Blue,” signaling the start of a new chapter in her artistic evolution. Released via Epic Records and produced by Nineteen85 and Jetski Purp, the sultry track blends smoldering emotion with airy production as Mariah explores the intoxicating pull of love that consumes her completely.
“I can feel it in the air / My cold sweat dripping everywhere,” she sings in the chorus, capturing the heat and vulnerability of being swept away by romance. The slow-burning, ambient soundscape complements the raw honesty in her lyrics, showcasing the unique sonic identity that has made her a standout voice in modern R&B.
“Burning Blue” is the lead single from Mariah’s upcoming fourth album, which she confirmed is completed. At Billboard’s Women in Music event earlier this year, she teased, “[My] new project has taken many nights to put together, but it’s done. So, I’m excited to put it out.”
This new project follows her critically acclaimed 2023 release, To Be Eaten Alive, which marked her debut under Epic Records. That album featured collaborations with heavyweights like 21 Savage, Young Thug, and Vory and further cemented her as one of the most intriguing figures in the genre.
Since then, Mariah the Scientist has remained active through collaborations with artists including Latto, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and Tee Grizzley, showcasing her ability to blend seamlessly across sounds while staying true to her artistic vision.
