Nora Fatehi and Jason Derulo have kicked off 2025 with an exciting new single, “Snake,” released on January 16. This vibrant track blends East Asian melodies with American dance-pop, creating a global sound that is danceable. With its rhythmic beats and engaging energy, “Snake” is resonates with audiences worldwide.
The collaboration originated from a conversation between Fatehi and renowned producer Tommy Brown, known for his work with artists like Ariana Grande and Victoria Monét. “I wanted something that felt exotic and dance-oriented — a song that would inspire people to move,” Fatehi explained in an interview with Billboard. Once the track was complete, the team discussed potential collaborators, and Derulo was an obvious choice.
“I’ve followed his career for a long time and really respect what he’s accomplished,” she added. For Fatehi, “Snake” is of great significance as she seeks to expand her presence in the global music scene. After moving from Toronto to India, the Moroccan-Canadian artist became a staple of Bollywood cinema, starring in numerous films while amassing a massive following of over 47 million on Instagram.
For Derulo, collaborating on “Snake” has deepened his appreciation for Bollywood and Fatehi’s talents. “Diving into her world and watching her perform was an eye-opening experience,” he said. “It’s rare to find someone with her level of skill in both singing and dancing.” The music video, filmed in Morocco, is a mix of choreography that includes belly dancing, hip-hop, and Bollywood moves.
“We’re creating some amazing music together,” he revealed, hinting at a new album set to drop later in 2025. With “Snake” as a launching pad, both artists are excited for the year ahead in music.
