Tyrese Explores Heartbreak and Healing in Latest Release ‘Beautiful Pain’

Tyrese

After announcing his retirement from music nearly a decade ago, Tyrese has made a powerful return with ‘Beautiful Pain‘, released through his label Voltron Recordz in collaboration with Create Music Group. The double album, featuring 17 tracks, delves into themes of heartbreak, personal growth, and resilience.

‘Beautiful Pain’ includes notable singles like “Love Transaction,” “Don’t Think You Ever Loved,” featuring Lenny Kravitz and Le’Andria Johnson, and “Wildflower,” a heartfelt cover of The New Birth’s 1973 classic. This particular track is a tribute to Tyrese’s late mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, who passed away in 2022. The track, co-produced by David Foster and Brandon “B.A.M.” Hodge, debuted at No. 20 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart and quickly became the most added song at R&B radio for the week of August 14.

The album reflects on Tyrese’s emotional journey following his 2020 divorce. Tracks like “Runaway,” featuring El DeBarge, showcase his vulnerability, while “When Was It Over” hints at betrayal. Tyrese also collaborates with Tamar Braxton on a poignant remake of Gladys Knight & The Pips’ “Neither One Of Us.”

While much of ‘Beautiful Pain‘ explores heartache, the album also includes lighter moments. “Bedroom Bully,” featuring October London, offers a seductive vibe, while “Willing” marks a turning point, as Tyrese embraces new love and healing. Other contributors include saxophonist Kenny G and singer-songwriter Eric Dawkins.

This album follows Tyrese’s 2015 project, ‘Black Rose’, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned him two Grammy nominations. ‘Beautiful Pain’ serves as a reminder of his musical prowess and deep emotional expression.

Tyrese is set to perform music from ‘Beautiful Pain’ during the R&B Forever Tour, where he’ll join TGT bandmates and Bell Biv DeVoe. The tour, kicking off on October 4 in Inglewood, California, will include special guest appearances by Silk and will visit cities like Miami, Brooklyn, and Atlanta.

In addition to his music, Tyrese stars in the new crime thriller 1992, now in theaters. The film, executive produced by Snoop Dogg, follows Tyrese’s character, Mercer, as he navigates life and fatherhood during the tumultuous period following the 1992 L.A. riots.

Tyrese’s return with ‘Beautiful Pain’ showcases his ability to channel personal experiences into powerful music, reaffirming his place in the R&B landscape.
