Raquel ‘Ra’ Brown Set to Showcase Debut R&B Album on Tour

RAQUEL ‘RA’ BROWN

R&B/Soul artist Raquel ‘Ra’ Brown is making waves with her first album, “There’s No Place Like Knowing,” and is set to perform across the country.

Here’s where you can catch her live:

  • June 16 at Centre Stage, featuring Maimouna Youssef in Atlanta
  • July 10 back at City Winery, Philadelphia

Released on April 15, Brown’s album offers a deep dive into her personal experiences, delivering soul-stirring songs filled with her unique poetic touch. She teamed up with R&B sensation Raheem DeVaughn to write and co-produce the album, which includes 10 tracks plus an exclusive acapella bonus track.

The album touches on heavy themes like resilience, love, and finding oneself. Her leading track “Birds Are Black” features 13 of Nazareth and Sunni Patterson and explores the heart-wrenching reality of racial injustice through the story of a young black boy tragically impacted by his surroundings.

Another standout track, “Back 2 Back” with Raheem DeVaughn, brings a playful and flirty vibe, with DeVaughn singing about playful banter, while Brown counters with her signature lyrical finesse.

While “There’s No Place Like Knowing” marks her album debut, Brown is no stranger to the spotlight. She has collaborated with Grammy-nominated DeVaughn, appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk, and performed at notable venues like The Kennedy Center and The Anthem, opening for Erykah Badu.

Originally from North Philadelphia, Brown’s music is heavily influenced by her roots and her move to Washington D.C. during her teenage years. It was during this time that she turned to poetry, blending it with R&B to articulate her feelings about leaving her childhood home.
