Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Marsha Ambrosius has revealed the release date for her highly anticipated new album, Casablanco. The album is set to drop on June 28 through Aftermath/Interscope Records. Fans can look forward to enjoying Casablanco in various formats, including digital, CD, and vinyl. Additionally, exclusive signed CDs will be available for pre-order on Interscope’s official website, while signed gold vinyls can be purchased on Amazon.
The 11-track album, produced by the renowned Dr. Dre, is preceded by the singles “The Greatest” and “One Night Stand”. Ambrosius first hinted at Casablanco nearly four years ago, expressing her excitement in a December 2021 Instagram post: “I just finished recording an album with Dr. Dre Casablanco. I had an amazing time!! This is some of my best work!!!”
Casablanco follows Ambrosius’ 2018 album, Nyla, which featured production from Harmony Samuels, The Stereotypes, Focus, and others. Reflecting on the creation of Nyla, Ambrosius explained how channeling her emotions into music helped preserve her mental well-being. “I had a lot of pent up energy, and channeling all of the energy into the music is what helped save my sanity. Poems turned into melodies and then a bunch of songs, which was like my personal therapy in a sense,” she said. The album allowed her to release everything she needed to let go of in her life, experiencing it all anew through the eyes of her daughter, Nyla.
Ambrosius has been actively performing and engaging with her fans. Recently, she delivered an electrifying performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, sharing the stage with stars like Jill Scott, Lil Wayne, and André 3000. Earlier in the month, she also performed at the 9th annual Black Music Honors in Atlanta. The ceremony, celebrating Black music excellence, is scheduled to air on June 19 at 9 p.m. ET on Bounce TV.
With Casablanco, Marsha Ambrosius continues to showcase her evolution as an artist, offering deeply personal and reflective music. The album’s release promises to be a significant event for fans and newcomers alike, underscoring her enduring impact on the music industry. Keep an eye out for the album on June 28, and don’t miss the chance to pre-order exclusive editions to add to your collection.
