Tiwa Savage recently shared that she felt it was the perfect time to explore new creative avenues, and working on the movie ‘Water & Garri’ gave her that chance. Released on May 10, 2024, the film came out with a soundtrack album featuring Ayra Starr, Young John, Black Sheriff, and Cavemen, among others. Tiwa was thrilled to collaborate with Brandy, as the American RnB star inspired her to start singing. She also commented on the rising popularity of Afrobeats, saying it was only a matter of time before African music received the global recognition it deserves.

During an interview on Kiss Fresh, Ayra Starr praised Tiwa Savage as one of the top female African artists making waves globally. Tiwa responded by calling Ayra Starr an amazing singer and a genuinely lovely person. “I once tweeted ‘I love Ayra,’ I’m obsessed with her. She’s fantastic and genuine too,” Tiwa said.

Tiwa also expressed her pride in seeing Ayra Starr embrace her role as a female sex symbol. “It makes me emotional because when I started, I faced a lot of criticism for being too sexy and for my provocative lyrics. Seeing Ayra now wearing short skirts, I’m like, ‘Yeah! make it shorter!’ She looks incredible and is incredibly talented. She’s a star,” Tiwa added.
