Following the success of his critically acclaimed album R&B Money, singer Tank delivers a gift to his fans with the release of R&B Money: The Vault. This deluxe edition features five new tracks, including the previously released, chart-topping single “Before We Get Started” featuring Fabolous.
“The fans demanded more, and how could I refuse?” Tank says with genuine enthusiasm in a recent interview. “This is for them. Plus, the tour kicks off in a few weeks, and I can’t wait to share this music live across the country. It’s all about celebrating R&B!”
Among the standout additions is the sultry slow-burner “Come Inside,” where Tank extends an invitation to a love interest seeking sanctuary. His smooth vocals plead, “Outside be so crazy / You could still be my lady / But only if you come inside.”
A shift in tone comes with “Lonely,” an honest exploration of feeling isolated within a relationship. Tank avoids confrontation, instead highlighting the importance of open communication with lyrics like “Cause I’m so lonely / I know a man ain’t supposed to admit that / But I’m tryna to be heard so I need you hear that / Cause we’ll get to a place that I know we can get back.”
On the acoustic ballad “War,” trust issues ignite friction within the relationship. Tank laments, “Everything I’ve done before has you living in fear / Oh, oh, I’m losing this fight,” showcasing the emotional toll of such challenges.
The project concludes with “Wanna Love You,” a devotional track that seamlessly blends Tank’s signature R&B sound with a touch of Jersey Club, creating a fresh and captivating soundscape.
The original release of R&B Money in August 2022 (also via R&B Money and Atlantic Records) was met with critical acclaim. All four singles – “I Deserve,” “Can’t Let It Show,” “Slow” featuring J. Valentine, and “See Through Love” featuring Chris Brown – reached the coveted No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. This impressive feat solidified Tank’s position as a powerhouse in the R&B genre.
R&B Money served as a poignant farewell project, a heartfelt tribute to the genre that shaped Tank’s artistry. “It’s a labor of love for my fans and R&B music itself,” Tank shared. “Without legends like Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Keith Sweat, and Al Green, I wouldn’t be here. And of course, my fans inspire me every day. This album is a homage to my influences and my own artistic evolution.”
Tank’s farewell doesn’t signal the end of live music. On May 10th, he embarks on the R&B Money Tour, featuring special guests Keri Hilson and Carl Thomas. The 25-city tour kicks off at The Fillmore in New Orleans and winds down at The Pearl in Las Vegas on June 23rd, with stops in Houston, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Memphis along the way.
In related news, Tank joins forces with producer Camper on the brand new single “I Need It” featuring Syd.
