Get ready for a sonic storm! Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lucky Daye is set to unleash his brand new single “Hericane” on April 19th.
The news dropped on Daye’s Instagram on Wednesday, alongside a pre-save link to fuel fan anticipation. This track marks Daye’s first official release of 2024, following the critically-acclaimed “That’s You” which arrived last November.
In March, Daye offered a tantalizing glimpse of “Hericane” with a carpool snippet on social media. The brief clip showcased his smooth vocals gliding over an intriguing melody, with lyrics hinting at passionate connection and a touch of the unexpected: “I’ll take you to the top floor, baby / If you want it, don’t let me go / Hold on, just ride / What you wanna do? / I’ll drive you through midnight Let it rain, baby, rain.”
“That’s You,” co-produced by the legendary D’Mile and Bruno Mars, resonated with fans and critics alike. Daye described pouring his heart into the song, aiming to evoke a longing for that irreplaceable person in your life. The track debuted strong on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart, peaking at No. 15 and currently holding steady at No. 17.
Both “Hericane” and “That’s You” are expected to be featured on Daye’s highly anticipated third studio album. Following the success of his 2022 sophomore effort Candydrip (which debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and even snagged the No. 1 spot on our own list of the year’s best R&B albums), the excitement surrounding Daye’s next project is palpable. Here’s to hoping “Hericane” lives up to its name and delivers a powerful new chapter in Lucky Daye’s sonic journey.
