Rising R&B star Maeta notches her first Billboard chart-topper with “Through The Night,” featuring Free Nationals. The seductive single ascends to the peak of the Adult R&B Airplay chart this week, following its top 10 debut in November 2023.

“Through The Night” maintains its reign at No. 1 on R&B radio for a second week straight. According to Mediabase, the song garnered 2,098 spins, reaching an audience of 6.1 million listeners from March 17th to 23rd.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have my first number one!” Maeta gushes in an exclusive interview with Rated R&B. “This has been a lifelong dream, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s supported me along the way. Stay tuned, there’s much more in store!”

Produced by Camper, “Through The Night” boasts songwriting contributions from Lucky Daye and Elijah Blake. The track graces Maeta’s critically acclaimed sophomore EP, When I Hear Your Name, released last June via Roc Nation Records.

Speaking on the project’s themes, Maeta elaborated to Rated R&B: “I wanted to explore the complexities of love, acknowledging that confusion is often part of the equation. That’s something I’ve been grappling with myself. Accepting love’s inherent challenges is key, and that’s the message the EP conveys. Hopefully, it resonates with those navigating similar emotional terrain.”

She further explains the EP’s structure: “It concludes with ‘Through The Night’ because sometimes, despite the drama, all you crave is intimacy. When I Hear Your Name is a rollercoaster ride reflecting the ups and downs of love. Ultimately, when you care deeply for someone, you learn to navigate those complexities.”

When I Hear Your Name features collaborations with Lucky Daye, Ty Dolla $ign, James Fauntleroy, and Ambré. Track three, “Anybody,” received co-writing credits from SZA.

Maeta recently unveiled Through The Night (The After Hours Pack), offering a collection of the song’s various iterations, including the original, instrumental, acapella, and a live rendition from the Soul Train Awards.

On the horizon, Maeta has a collaborative project with Kaytranada brewing. “There are six songs,” she revealed to Rated R&B, “four penned by Fallon [King] and two by James Fauntleroy. I’m really looking forward to sharing that.”

This summer, Maeta joins Chris Brown on his highly anticipated 11:11 Tour.
