Alicia Keys continues to make waves in the music industry, securing two new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that underscore her enduring impact and success.
Firstly, her 2012 single “Brand New Me” has been certified gold, with over 500,000 equivalent units sold. The self-produced track, co-written with Emeli Sandé, is a standout from her Grammy-winning album, Girl On Fire. Exploring themes of personal growth and transformation, Keys shared, “‘Brand New Me’ is about the journey it takes to get to a place where you are proud to be a new you. There is nothing wrong with growing!”
This achievement marks the third RIAA certification for tracks from Girl On Fire, joining the ranks of the title track (certified 7x platinum) and “Fire We Make” with Maxwell (certified gold).
In addition, Keys’ 2019 single “Show Me Love” featuring Miguel has reached platinum status, with over one million equivalent units sold. Co-produced by Keys and Morgan Matthews, this romantic ballad served as the lead single for her 2020 album, ALICIA. Spending five weeks atop Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, “Show Me Love” stands as a testament to Keys’ enduring relevance and artistry.
Looking ahead, Keys is set to perform at the 2024 Lovers & Friends Festival on May 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada, alongside industry heavyweights Janet Jackson, Usher, and Mary J. Blige, among others. Additionally, her highly anticipated Hell’s Kitchen musical is slated to debut on Broadway on March 28 at Shubert Theatre.
Later in May, Keys and her husband, Swizz Beatz, will be honored at the Gordon Parks Foundation’s Annual Awards Dinner and Auction, where they will receive the prestigious Patrons of the Arts Award. Expressing their gratitude, the power couple stated, “We are deeply honored to be receiving the Gordon Parks Patrons of the Arts Award in 2024.
