SZA invites listeners into a whimsical world with her enchanting new single, “Saturn,” released Thursday (Feb. 22) via Top Dawg Entertainment and RCA Records.

The track made its debut in a Mastercard commercial during the 2024 Grammy Awards, where SZA stole the show by winning three awards. In the commercial, SZA frolics through an enchanted forest, supporting Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, which advocates for forest restoration. “We’re a force of nature when we come together. That’s why I’m supporting Mastercard on their mission to restore forests around the globe. Join me,” SZA urges at the ad’s conclusion.

Written by SZA, Carter Lang, Rob Bisel, Solomonophonic, and Monsune, and produced by the latter four, “Saturn” reflects the superstar’s disillusionment with the world and her contemplation of whether life would be better on the distant planet. The single is part of a five-track bundle, which includes the original track along with live, sped-up, a cappella, and instrumental versions.

“Saturn” is expected to feature on SZA’s upcoming deluxe edition of her SOS album, titled LANA. SOS debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in December 2022, spending 10 nonconsecutive weeks atop the chart — the longest run for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman since Mariah Carey’s self-titled debut in 1991.
