Dubai-based Gambian Senegalese artist Dawda, renowned for his collaborative hit “Chocola” with Mohombi and Bayanni, makes a bold entry into the spotlight with his debut solo single, “Wine.” Following the success of “Chocola,” which garnered over a million streams and earned acclaim from prominent platforms including Spotify and Apple Music, Dawda’s “Wine” marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his musical journey. Released on February 8 via the innovative Dubai-based studio LPME Group, “Wine” offers a exciting preview of Dawda’s forthcoming project slated for release in the summer.
Directed by Dawda himself and produced in collaboration with Egyptian Swedish musician Aladdin Awad (known for his work with Claydee, Dappy, SL, and Leila AD), “Wine” is a genre-defying fusion of afrobeats, R&B, pop, and dancehall elements. Inspired by the infectious energy of the Jamaican dance “dutty wine,” the track exudes seduction with its lush synths, rhythmic percussion, and vibrant bass guitar arrangements. Dawda’s mesmerizing vocals narrate a tale of admiration for his muse’s dance moves, captivating listeners with his lyrical ability and undeniable charm.
With credits as a songwriter for acclaimed artists such as Snoh Aalegra, Iyaz, Ashley Tisdale, and Sean Kingston, Dawda now steps into the spotlight as a lead artist in his own right. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of musical influences spanning Mbalax from Gambia and Senegal to afrobeats, amapiano, contemporary R&B, and pop, Dawda’s debut single “Wine” sets the stage for a remarkable artistic evolution.
