Victoria Monét has clinched another victory on the radio charts. Her chart-topping single “On My Mama” has surged to the number one spot on rhythmic radio, displacing Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” to the runner-up position.
With an impressive 5,883 spins this week and an audience impression of 16.2 million, according to Mediabase, the 2000s-inspired track marks Monét’s inaugural chart-topper at rhythmic radio.
Expressing her elation on social media, Monét shared, “WOW!! ‘ON MY MAMA’ just went #1 at Rhythmic radio officially TODAY!! Off to an amazing start… GOD!!!! Thank you to my incredible radio team at RCA and all of you lovely radio programmers Dj’s and hosts who have been rocking with this song! Means the world to me.”
Produced by Deputy, D’Mile, and Jeff Gitelman, “On My Mama” previously ascended to the apex of the urban radio charts last November, cementing Monét’s position as a formidable force in contemporary R&B.
On the Adult R&B Airplay chart, the track holds the second spot this week, trailing behind Mary J. Blige’s “Still Believe in Love”, which has maintained its reign for seven consecutive weeks.
Reflecting on the song’s message, Monét shared, “‘On My Mama’ is the soundtrack to positive affirmations. I wrote it postpartum when I wasn’t feeling my best, but spoke to how I wanted to feel… Give yourself the words you need to hear because it’s true, you look good! There’s no one like you and that’s on ya mama. Enjoy being yourself witcha fine ass!”
“On My Mama” is a standout single from Monét’s debut album, JAGUAR II, released on August 25, 2023, via RCA Records. The album debuted impressively at number six on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums, marking Monét’s inaugural top 10 entry on this prestigious chart.
Speaking to MTV about JAGUAR II, Monét emphasized, “The biggest takeaway I wanted people to have with JAGUAR II was the dynamic of a female… I am hoping that it is something that feels timeless and classic that people will want to revisit in 10 years, 20 years down the line.”
Monét’s triumph extends beyond the charts. At the recent 66th Grammy Awards, JAGUAR II secured her first three Grammy wins, including Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
Looking ahead, Monét leads the nominations at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards with six nods, signaling her continued dominance in the industry. Additionally, fans can catch her electrifying performance at the upcoming Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California, this April.
