Marques Houston

R&B sensation Marques Houston is marking his return to the music scene with a fresh groove in the form of his latest single, “Admit It.” This release, the artist’s first since 2022, ventures into the dynamic intersection of R&B and Afrobeat, showcasing Houston’s deliberate exploration of diverse musical stylings.

Produced by Jordan James and Jai Sessions, “Admit It” presents a captivating blend of smooth vocals and infectious beats. Houston shares his excitement about this musical venture, stating, “I’ve had the itch to come back and do music heavily the past year or so. I’ve been creating so much and experimenting with sounds and different life experiences to have things to write about. I’m a big fan of fusing genres, and Afrobeat is one of my favorite genres. I wanted to start with an Afro/R&B fusion style record mixed with smooth vibey vocals.”

The track, described by Houston as “vibey and fun,” serves as a precursor to his upcoming album, promising a wave of musical exploration in MH 2024. This marks a continuation of his musical journey, following his 2022 EP, ME: Dark Water, which featured six tracks and collaborations with Ray J and Monteco.

While acknowledging the nostalgic R&B feel present in ME: Dark Water, Houston explains, “I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. It was really fun recording this project. ME: Dark Water is more of an edgier side.” This willingness to evolve and experiment demonstrates Houston’s commitment to pushing boundaries and providing listeners with fresh sounds.

“Admit It” is a lively testament to Marques Houston’s artistic evolution, delivering a vibrant blend of Afrobeat and R&B that sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting musical journey in 2024.
