The EP, rich with relatable themes of love, joy, sexuality, and heartbreak, marks a significant chapter in Dion ‘s artistic journey. After a year-long hiatus from music releases, the singer shares his thoughts on the creative process behind the EP, emphasizing the need for authenticity in his work.
“During the making of this EP, I took a year off releasing music. Emphasis on’releasing’ because I was very much creating every day. I was super inspired because of how much life I had been living and experiencing after the release of my album SASSY,” Dion reflects.
Taking time away from the spotlight, Dion delved into self-discovery, disconnecting from his public persona to reconnect with himself as Kyle. This break allowed him to appreciate life, travel, and gain new perspectives. Dion shares, “I disconnected from Kyle Dion for a bit because I had always been fully submerged in my art, and, in a sense, I feel like that could have hindered the authenticity of my previous releases.”
With If My Jeans Could Talk, Dion embraces vulnerability, authenticity, and a carefree spirit. The EP is a reflection of his personal journey, focusing on self-expression and creating music that resonates with him first.
“This EP I’m a bit more vulnerable, a bit more real, and a bit more carefree. I didn’t worry if anyone would like it, but instead focused on how it made me feel, how I loved it, and how I wanted to create it for myself, for Kyle,” he notes.
If My Jeans Could Talk follows Dion’s well-received 2021 sophomore album, SASSY, which received a deluxe edition in 2022. Dion hints that this EP is a precursor to his upcoming third studio album, building anticipation for what lies ahead.
To celebrate the release of the EP, Dion will kick off the If My Jeans Could Talk Pop-Up Tour on February 21 at Echoplex in Los Angeles, California. The tour will continue with stops in New York, Paris, and London, promising a unique live experience for his fans.
