South African songstress Tyla is making significant ripples in the music industry, as evidenced by her recent achievement with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The singer’s breakout single “Water” has been certified platinum, indicating over one million equivalent units sold, a first for Tyla.
Currently riding high at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Jan. 20, “Water” showcases an exquisite blend of Amapiano and R&B vibes. Produced by Sammy Soso, the track is in its 15th week, consistently gracing the popular singles chart.
On Spotify, “Water” boasts a staggering 338 million streams, making it Tyla’s most-streamed song on the platform. Impressively, she attracts 30 million monthly listeners, a testament to her growing global appeal.
Released in July 2023 via FAX Records/Epic Records, “Water” has seen remarkable success. It spurred further interest with the release of an official remix featuring labelmate Travis Scott, which has already garnered 24.5 million streams on Spotify. Additionally, a collaboration with Marshmello for another remix is nearing the eight million streams mark.
Tyla’s upcoming self-titled debut album, set for release on March 1, is eagerly anticipated. The album will include her latest offerings such as “Truth or Dare,” “Butterflies,” and “On and On,” alongside the platinum-certified “Water.”

In an intimate discussion with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, Tyla revealed her rationale behind the album’s title, emphasizing her desire for a pristine and direct introduction to her music. “I want people to get to know my name and my sound because my first project is Tyla in music form,” she explained.
The singer is also set to embark on her headlining debut tour, starting in Oslo, Norway, on March 21. The tour will encompass several European cities, concluding in London on April 1. The North American leg begins on April 22 in San Francisco, California, winding through major cities and culminating on May 28 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
