The music world is abuzz with anticipation as Jay-Z and D’Angelo gear up to release their new collaboration, “I Want You Forever,” this Friday, January 12. The track, a soul-stirring masterpiece, is part of the soundtrack for the upcoming film ‘The Book of Clarence,’ directed by filmmaker and musician Jeymes Samuel.
Described by Samuel as “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss,” “I Want You Forever” promises to be a significant addition to the soundtrack of ‘The Book of Clarence.’ The full tracklist and cover artwork of the soundtrack have been unveiled, hinting at the rich musical tapestry that the film is set to offer.
Jeymes Samuel, the creative force behind ‘The Book of Clarence,’ which also premieres this Friday, has taken on multiple roles in the project. Besides directing, he is among the producers, alongside Jay-Z, with whom he previously collaborated on ‘The Harder They Fall.’
In a press release for the track “Hallelujah Heaven” from ‘The Book of Clarence,’ Samuel expressed his long-standing vision for the film: “The Book of Clarence is a film that I wanted to make for many years. While I was working on The Harder They Fall and all my other projects, the story and the music for The Book of Clarence were always there, percolating in my mind.” He added, “There was never a question as to whether I would compose the score and write and perform on the soundtrack, as well as write and direct the movie—it was all one amazing journey where one depended on the other. But I also worked with the most awesome artists on our track, ‘Hallelujah Heaven.’ Collaborating with Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks was so dope, I loved getting them all on the same track.”
D’Angelo’s involvement in “I Want You Forever” marks his return to the music scene since his last widely available new song in 2019 and his acclaimed album ‘Black Messiah.’
The soundtrack for ‘The Book of Clarence’ is set to be a rich collage of musical styles and collaborations. Alongside Jay-Z and D’Angelo’s “I Want You Forever,” it features a range of other tracks, including “Hallelujah Heaven” featuring Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks, and “Jeezu” with Doja Cat and Kodak Black featuring Adekunle Gold.
The anticipation for “I Want You Forever” is high, as fans eagerly await what is poised to be a landmark release in both artists’ careers. Stay tuned for the release of this promising new track and the accompanying soundtrack, which is set to elevate the auditory experience of ‘The Book of Clarence.’
