Alicia Keys Unveils “The Diary of Alicia Keys 20” Anniversary Album

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of her second album, Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Alicia Keys has launched The Diary of Alicia Keys 20, a digital deluxe edition.

This extended release, dropping a day prior to the original album’s December 2, 2003 release, comprises all the original tracks from the iconic album and introduces nine bonus tracks, notably the previously unreleased “Golden Child.”

The extensive 24-track collection also includes various mixes and live renditions of the album’s singles such as “You Don’t Know My Name” and “If I Ain’t Got You.”

Live versions of select tracks are derived from Keys’ 2003 Webster Hall concert. Speaking of which, Keys is set to perform ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’ in its entirety at tonight’s (Dec. 1) show in New York City, with the intimate performance livestreamed via Veeps at 9 p.m. ET. Tickets are available at $14.99.

Circling back to The Diary of Alicia Keys,’ the album made its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 618,000 copies in its first week and spending two weeks at the pinnacle of the popular albums chart.

The album produced three top 10 hits on the Hot 100, including “You Don’t Know My Name” (No. 3 peak), “If I Ain’t Got You” (No. 4 peak), and “Diary” (No. 8 peak), with “Karma” also making its mark at No. 20.

At the 47th Grammy Awards in 2005, Alicia Keys clinched victories in categories such as Best R&B Album (‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’), Best R&B Song (“You Don’t Know My Name”), and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (“If I Ain’t Got You”).

As of August 2020, ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’ has been certified 5x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for achieving five million sales units.

In other developments, Keys is featured on the upcoming The Color Purple soundtrack. Her song “Lifeline,” which she wrote and co-produced, serves as the lead single for the soundtrack, set to release on Dec. 15 via Warner Bros. Pictures, WaterTower Music, and gamma. The soundtrack will feature additional contributions from artists like Fantasia, H.E.R., Usher, and more.
