R&B sensation Usher has just dropped his latest track “Boyfriend,” accompanied by an engaging music video that stars actress and singer Keke Palmer.
The infectious R&B-pop groove “Boyfriend” was co-written by Usher himself along with Camper and Rico Love. The track’s production is a collaborative effort between Laney Stewart, Tricky Stewart, Believve, Camper, and Rico Love.
In the catchy chorus, Usher sings, “Somebody said that your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me / Oh, that’s cool, that’s cool / Well, he should know I’m pretty easy to find / Just look for me wherever he sees you.”
The music video for “Boyfriend,” directed by Ricky Alvarez, was filmed at Park MGM and NoMad Las Vegas in Nevada. The video also cleverly references Usher’s iconic visual for “U Don’t Have to Call,” adding an extra layer of nostalgia for fans.
Keke Palmer, who co-stars in the video, expressed her admiration for him on social media. She shared a heartfelt message thanking him for his influence and impact on her career. Palmer’s admiration for his artistry and craftsmanship is evident as she wrote, “You are a living legend who is worthy of awe! Thank you for encouraging me and seeing me as the entertainer I am.”
Usher! I remember when I was 12 and auditioned for “In The Mix” 🤣 You have been killing it all my life. As a true lover of the arts, your talent and craftsmanship are a rare combination that I aspire to achieve as a performer. You are a living legend who is worthy of awe! Usher reciprocated the sentiment, acknowledging his artistic goal to inspire the next generation. He responded to Palmer, saying, “My goal in life as an artist is to make things that people feel…things that make the next generation feel inspired to chase their dreams.“
Palmer’s appearance in the video comes after attending Usher’s residency concert at Park MGM, where he serenaded her during the performance. This public display of appreciation resonated widely, sparking conversations online.
“Boyfriend” follows Usher’s recent hit “Good Good,” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage. The track quickly climbed the charts, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart and securing spots on various other rankings.
