In her latest song, Jè acknowledges her accomplishments and the blessings she has received in life. Jameella’s dedication to authenticity is evident as she empathizes with listeners who grapple with the pressure to conform and mold themselves to societal expectations. She understands that self-confidence is key to earning respect, encouraging her fans never to diminish themselves to accommodate others’ comfort.
The artist also leverages her multicultural background, integrating her experiences into her music. Each city she’s lived in, from NY to LA, has enriched her creativity. The boldness and swagger of New York have boosted her self-assurance, while the free-spiritedness of Los Angeles has inspired her to explore diverse sounds. Jameella finds great inspiration in a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, the American diplomat, activist, and former First Lady of the United States. The saying, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” resonates deeply with her, admitting: “Living by this pushes me to constantly go after my dreams without ceasing.” Jè embraces this philosophy wholeheartedly, which serves as a constant reminder to keep moving forward, accepting the beauty of her dreams and the possibilities they hold for her future.

How did you create the song “Ping Me For Location,” and what kind of emotions does it represent?
Upon hearing the beat, “Ping Me For Location” was born almost instantly. The beat drew out a celebratory feeling. That feeling led me into thinking about what I’ve achieved so far as an artist and what I hope to achieve in the future.
In a demanding industry, where artists are constantly pressured to sound and look a certain way, how do you keep your creativity intact and ensure an authentic experience for your audience?
Naturally, I’m someone who enjoys standing out even outside of music, so getting me to conform or fit an image that’s not me was always going to be difficult. I take pride in my uniqueness and it shows in my music, my style, and the way I speak.
Could you provide some information on your upcoming EP, Guda? Specifically, can you share details about the tracklist, themes, style, and the anticipated release date for this summer?
Guda, my upcoming EP, is a collection of beautiful songs that sort of define my artistry. Guda means “One” in Hausa, a very popular dialect in Ghana and it happens to be my nickname. People would call me “Guda” as a way of telling me that I stood out everywhere I go and there’s no one like me, in other words there’s only “One” me. With how much I pride myself in making my type of music, naming my EP, Guda, felt right.
Can you share a unique source of inspiration that people might find surprising or unexpected, but that has greatly influenced your creative process?
A unique source of inspiration for me is actually people’s stories. I take the stories of my friends and make them my own. Whether it’s trauma or joy, I love to draw from other people’s experiences. If I were to only use my own experiences to write, I feel my songs would sound monotonous and boring. But when I draw inspiration from the experiences of friends, family or even strangers, it’s almost like writing a story and it becomes relatable on a larger scale.
Expanding beyond Guda, Jameella gears up to share an array of fresh singles accompanied by visually breathtaking music videos. Embracing her artistic evolution through tracks like “Ping Me For Location,” she remains steadfast in delivering electrifying experiences for her devoted fan base.
