Andrew Bird, the acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, has announced a summer tour with new dates added in both Canada and the United States. The tour will feature a range of supporting acts, including Joan Shelley, Madison Cunningham, Ted Poor, and Uwade, who will join him at various stops.
The tour follows the release of Bird’s critically acclaimed 2021 album, Inside Problems, which was lauded for its intricate songwriting and lush instrumentation. Before that, he collaborated with the singer-songwriter Jimbo Mathus on the album These 13, which was released in 2020. The duo had previously worked together in the band Squirrel Nut Zippers, with Bird playing violin on the ensemble’s breakout 1996 album, Hot.
Bird’s music is characterized by his distinctive whistling, intricate violin playing, and his carefully crafted lyrics, which often explore themes of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. His live shows are known for their energy and intimacy, with Bird often engaging with the audience and sharing stories about the inspirations behind his songs.
The upcoming tour will kick off on March 30th, and will include stops in major cities across North America, including Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, and Chicago. Fans can expect to hear a mix of new material from Inside Problems, as well as classic songs from Bird’s extensive back catalogue.
For fans of Andrew Bird, this tour is an opportunity to experience his unique blend of folk, indie rock, and chamber pop in person, and to witness the magic of his live performances. With a range of talented supporting acts and a wealth of new material to draw from, this promises to be a tour that fans won’t want to miss.
