Belinda Carlisle has made a comeback with her first new pop single in over 25 years. Titled “Big Big Love,” it is a collaboration with legendary songwriter Diane Warren and will be featured on Carlisle’s upcoming EP, Kismet, set to release on May 12th via RAF/BMG. The pop icon is also gearing up for a string of US tour dates, and fans can grab tickets here.
With its soaring and upbeat production by Mati Gavriel, “Big Big Love” perfectly captures the essence of Carlisle’s message about chasing an all-encompassing romance. The songstress sings, “What I need is someone to come and knock me off my feet, jump off the cliff and dive into something deep.” Stream the track below to experience the high-energy and infectious vibe of Carlisle’s latest work.
Carlisle and Warren have a long-standing collaboration history that dates back to the 80s when they first worked together on Carlisle’s seminal album, Heaven on Earth, which featured the classic title track. In a statement, the pop icon expressed her delight at the reunion with Warren and how it led to the creation of her new project. “27 years on from making my last English language pop record, I really wasn’t thinking I would ever make one again… and I was quite happy with that idea,” Carlisle said. “Then a chance encounter in a coffee shop led me back to the wonderful Diane Warren, and she gave me the incredible gift of this song and the other songs on my upcoming EP.”
Warren, too, expressed her excitement at the reunion and the new chapter that has begun between the two. “It’s so great to be working together again after all these years. From ‘I Get Weak’ and now to ‘Big Big Love,’ a new chapter has begun. I can’t wait for everyone to hear these new hits!”
“Big Big Love” marks Carlisle’s first English-language track since “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” from the animated Hercules movie soundtrack. Her last pop album was 1996’s A Woman & A Man, although she has released a French cover album (Voila) and a Sikh chant LP (Wilder Shores) since then. Recently, she contributed to the Warren-penned “Gonna Be You” alongside Dolly Parton, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, and Gloria Estefan.
Overall, Carlisle’s return to pop music with “Big Big Love” has been a highly-anticipated event for her fans, who have been eagerly waiting for new music from the iconic artist. With her upcoming EP, Kismet, and tour dates, Carlisle is poised to make a triumphant comeback to the music scene.
