Tamar Braxton is resurfacing. The Grammy-nominated singer has revealed the title of her new track, “Changed.” With the announcement, Braxton shared four alternate cover designs for the new song in an Instagram post. She wants fans to help her choose it.
“Changed” does not yet have a release date. “Changed” will be Braxton’s first official single since “My Man,” which served as the lead single for Bluebird of Happiness in 2017. The latter charted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay.
Following Bluebird of Happiness, Braxton has no plans to release another album or new songs. Nevertheless, she reappeared in 2020 with “Crazy Kind of Love.” which was released as a bonus track for the film True to the Game 2, in which she starred. The Whitney Houston-inspired song peaked at No. 2 on the Adult R&B chart, becoming her sixth top-ten record.
It’s unknown if “Changed” will be the lead single from Braxton’s highly anticipated album or a separate tune. Braxton’s efforts to record an album were derailed. In 2021, she informed Entertainment Tonight’s Brice Sander that she was working on not one, but two albums. She even referred to the albums as her “super best work yet.”
Braxton took to Instagram a year later to mark the tenth anniversary of her sophomore album, Love & War. In the same article, she reported that a recorded album had inexplicably vanished. “Trust me putting out new music hasn’t been easy for me- although an ENTIRE project was ready and then vanished into thin air,” she wrote.
Considering all of this, Braxton’s new song “Changed” may be the first output of the upcoming album’s recording process. Before and after the triumph of “Crazy Kind of Love,” Braxton has continued to release new music. Braxton delved into the vault in the fall of 2018 and released the following music videos from various album cycles: “The Makings of You,” “Love It,” “Wanna Love You Boy,” and “Pieces.”
