Taron Egerton, star of Kingsman, discusses if reports that he is in the running to replace James Bond are true. With Daniel Craig’s departure from the role in 2021’s No Time To Die, it’s been unknown who will take on the tuxedo and wield the character’s renowned Walther PPK. With Eggy in the Kingsman franchise resembling a Bond-like superspy, Egerton is one of several actors reported to be taking on the role.
In a recent interview with Total Film (via Gaming Radar), Egerton states that he has not been approached about being the next Bond. In fact, Egerton believes that Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have already discovered their guy, albeit he is not relying on any secret insider information. See Egerton’s complete response below:
“Yeah. I mean, I think they’ve already got someone, and it’s not me. I mean, I’ve never been a part of the conversations. I’ve never met the Broccolis. They’ve never enquired about me. I’ve just never been one of the guys that they’re looking at. I just don’t think I’m the right person for that. I think there’s much, much, much better candidates for that role than me. But, you know, I’d be a very willing audience member. They’re brilliant films.”
