Spotify has launched R&B First Nights, a program that connects emerging R&B artists with fans through a live experience.
Spotify will collaborate with budding talents to promote their first live event in certain U.S. locations through R&B First Nights. Spotify’s Creator Equity Fund is supporting the new initiative as part of the company’s commitment to elevating creators from historically underrepresented areas.
On March 31, Victoria Monét will kick off R&B First Nights in Los Angeles, California. The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter will take the stage at Los Angeles’ iconic El Rey Theatre. FLO, a rising R&B trio, will perform at Atlanta’s Center Stage Theater on April 13.
“To this day I’ve still never headlined my own show and it’s been a huge dream of mine, which is why this upcoming show with Spotify is so special and important to me!” Monét told Billboard. Tickets for Monét’s headlining show go on sale this Friday, March 3, at 10 a.m. PT.
Monét’s new song “Smoke,” featuring Lucky Daye, will be released on March 24. The song will be included on her next project, JAGUAR II, a follow-up to 2020’s JAGUAR. Monét collaborated with Bryson Tiller on a new version of her song “We May Even Be Falling in Love” for Spotify Singles last month.
“I’ve always wanted to extend the interludes from JAGUAR Part 1 and was so happy to hear Bryson liked this song enough to make it a little longer! Hope you all enjoy hearing his voice on it as much as I do!” Monét said in a statement.
Monét followed up her summer 2020 release JAGUAR with her “Touch Me (Remix)” featuring Kehlani later that autumn. She finished the year with A Jaguar Christmas: The Orchestral Arrangements, a seasonal version of the EP.
In 2021, Monét released two songs: “F.U.C.K.” and “Coastin’.” She performed the latter song at the pre-show for the 2022 BET Awards. It was her first time attending the star-studded event and performing at an award presentation.
JAGUAR EP by Victoria Monét is available on Spotify.
