Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor star Chris Hemsworth expressed his excitement for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with a beautiful homage to Avengers: Endgame. The upcoming release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 promises to bring the trilogy to an emotional finale as director James Gunn transitions to his new post managing the DC Universe and this incarnation of the Guardians team concludes. Before their final excursion, Hemsworth demonstrated his support for his previous crew.
Hemsworth retweeted Chris Pratt’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer and reflected on their time as “Asgardians of the Galaxy.”
Excited for this one, mate! Asgardians of the galaxy forever 🤝 https://t.co/RIFHx5LmDT

While Hemsworth’s Thor MCU finale remains a possibility, it is nice to watch the actor support the Guardians of the Galaxy ensemble, since several, if not the majority, are set to exit the MCU. The actor combining his excitement for the film with a reference to an Avengers: Endgame joke and Thor’s time with the Guardians is great, and it begs the question of whether the characters’ paths may cross again in the MCU.
Thor got closer to the Guardians of the Galaxy over the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, with the latter film’s finale sending Thor and his dubbed “Asgardians of the Galaxy” on adventures throughout the galaxy. After being featured on a mission with Thor, the Guardians were absent for the majority of Thor: Love and Thunder. The reason for this was that Odinson was in a different mental state than the Guardians, and he was not doing well as a team member.
Thor is in a much better place in life after the events of Thor: Love and Thunder, having resolved his trauma with former love Jane Foster and now being the father figure to a powerful young lady. Thor may now reunite with the Guardians of the Galaxy to assist them in their upcoming battle against the High Evolutionary from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Nevertheless, Gunn has stated that Thor was never intended to feature in the film, therefore he will most likely not appear.
Yet, the last film of the trilogy has one connection to how Thor and the Guardians meet again in the MCU. Thor got exceedingly close to the raccoon in Avengers: Endgame when Thanos’ snap wiped all of the Guardians save Nebula and Rocket. If Rocket Raccoon’s suspected death occurs, Thor may meet the surviving members during a funeral following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Alternatively, depending on which of the cosmic heroes survives to that point, they could meet paths in either or both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars.
