Sarah Michelle Gellar provides a firm statement on her participation in the recently announced I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel. In the original 1997 slasher smash starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Gellar, a murderer with a hook menaced a group of four friends. But when it was recently discovered that Prinze and Hewitt were in discussions to reunite for a legacy sequel to IKWYDLS, questions about whether Gellar would be joining them inevitably erupted.
But now that Gellar has made it obvious that she won’t be appearing in the impending I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, all of that uncertainty can be put to rest. In a recent interview with ET, Gellar said that she had discussed the possibility of participating in the movie with director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. But, she emphasized that her character died in the first movie, making it clear that she wouldn’t return. See what Gellar stated below:
“As I explained to Jennifer, I am dead. I am dead dead. On ice. She’s like, ‘Are you sure you’re dead dead?’ I’m like, ‘It’s soap dish dead. I don’t have a head. You can’t write for someone that doesn’t have a head. I’m dead.’”
