As Black Radio III took home the trophy at the 65th Grammy Awards, Robert Glasper is now 2-0 in the category of Best R&B Album. In 2012, Glasper won the award for Black Radio at the 55th Grammy Awards.
Black Radio II, which was up for Best R&B Album at the 57th Grammy Awards in 2015, was released by Glasper before Black Radio III.
Glasper accepted the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jesus Children,” on which Lalah Hathaway and Malcolm Jamal Warner participated, even though he didn’t take home the final medal that evening.
Glasper told Apple Music of Black Radio III:
“I had a responsibility to give people what they were asking for, especially during the pandemic. They wanted another Black Radio, so I had to deliver.”
