Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is poised to include a new cinematic campaign, and as the last video revealed, it’s going to be a ton of fun. Roll the dice and step right up, D&D fans. An action-comedy with monsters right out of a role-playing game, a proper game cast, and some visual flare are all promised in the latest teaser, which keeps with the theme.
Remember, if the prospect of a D&D movie has you wanting to cast hellfire on everybody involved, this one comes from writer-directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, aka the pair behind Game Night, so there’s some real pedigree here. Watch the new, entertaining trailer.
Right, it appears to be a mental scream. (In a positive way. With Chris Pine playing Edgin the Bard, Michelle Rodriguez killing it as Holga the Barbarian, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith (here revealed to be sporting a British accent, for some reason), Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Actual Grant—the latter of whom appears to be continuing his run of having the most fun possible in front of the camera—Honour Among Thieves assembles a fun party of players.
Well done, sir! Additionally, the trailer has some story information (our heroes were unwittingly implicated in giving a terrifying MacGuffin to the wrong person, and they now have to make it right), additional Owlbear action, stone dragons, a ton of spells, and a journey inside the, um, orifice. Who will move first?
After all the D&D parodies of Stranger Things and Onward in recent years, it feels like the ideal moment to conjure the real thing. Let’s hope this one succeeds in bringing some wizardry to the big screen. Who has a D-20? Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves debuts in UK theaters on 31 March.
