One of the first groups of musicians to receive an RIAA certification in 2023 is Chris Brown. After selling more than 500,000 equivalent units, his 2022 song “Call Me Every Day” featuring Wizkid received a gold certification.
The bop, which was created by Blaisebeatz and RoccStar, is the first track on Breezy, Brown’s eleventh album, to receive certification. On June 24, 2022, a week before Breezy was born, Brown released “Call Me Every Day” through his Chris Brown Entertainment/RCA Records.
In September of that year, Brown sent “Call Me Every Day” to urban radio as the station’s next song. The song’s placements on various Billboard charts, notably the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, where it is now No. 11, have changed as a result of the listens on this format.
On the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart earlier this month, “Call Me Every Day” peaked at No. 8. On the Hot R&B Songs list, it peaked at No. 4, while it debuted and reached No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
At the 2023 NAACP Image Awards, “Call Me Every Day” is up for Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary). Brown is also up for Outstanding Album and Outstanding Male Artist (Breezy).
BET will broadcast the 54th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET. During his Breezy phase, Brown has received several nominations and victories lately. Brown defeated The Weeknd, Brent Faiyaz, Lucky Daye, and Givon to win Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards.
Brown’s tenth studio album, Breezy, was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 65th Grammy Awards, which will air on CBS on February 5 at 8 p.m. ET. Breezy, Brown’s most recent album, was listed among the 30 Best R&B Albums of 2022 by Rated R&B in December of last year.
“While the album’s brightest moments come when Brown leans into that pure R&B sound, he doesn’t necessarily miss when he ventures outside that zone. Simply put, Brown is a guy who enjoys making music with no restraints and Breezy is yet another example,” Rated R&B’s Keithan Samuels wrote.
Vedo and Brown recently worked together on Brown’s song “Do You Mind” off the album Mood Swings. On the song “Nasty” in late 2022, Brown and Tyga collaborated once again. Brown will begin his headline Under the Influence Tour on February 13 and perform all throughout the U.K. and Europe.
The name of Brown’s upcoming tour is taken from his 2019 song “Under the Influence,” which enjoyed a comeback in 2017. He shares a third place on this list for most chart-toppers with Usher and Bruno Mars. The platinum-selling song went to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart, making it his 13 chart-topper.
