For the remix of her song “Better Thangs,” which features Summer Walker, Ciara enlisted up-and-coming rapper GloRilla. The remix stays quite close to the song’s original rendition of empowerment. Walker’s second stanza and Ciara’s first verse don’t alter.
In the third verse, GloRilla makes an appearance and delivers bars that fit the subject of the song. She raps, “Thought I’d never leave him, man, I thought it was impossible / Then I had to realize what I tolerate, it’s options / And anything I tell myself is poppin’, what’s poppin’?”
Following the release of “Tomorrow 2” with Cardi B, which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 list during the week of October 8 and is now at No. 34 at the time of writing, GloRilla makes a cameo on “Better Thangs (Remix).”
The official video for “Better Thangs” was released two days after “Better Thangs” on September 28.
“It’s meant to bring joy while inspiring the continuous evolution of one’s self,” Ciara said of “Better Thangs.”
She added, “I have so much respect for my girl Summer and it’s fitting to have her on the record because we connect on so many levels, from where we come from, to our journeys and our mission to inspire other people to go after what they deserve in life…better thangs!”
The follow-up to Ciara’s cheerful blockbuster “Jump” with Coast Contra is “Better Thangs.” On the R&B Digital Songs Sales list from Billboard, the single debuted at No. 4.
On Ciara’s planned eighth album, which will be distributed by her label Beauty Marks Entertainment in collaboration with Uptown Records/Republic Records, both “Jump” and “Better Thangs” will be included.
