Brian McKnight Jr., son of R&B legend Brian McKnight, has released a new song called “Feels Like Home,” which was produced by SkyHigh Music.
McKnight demonstrates himself to be a student of the R&B sound from its heyday. He knows the genre’s elegance and brilliantly reflects it in this sweet ode. “Feels Like Home” is a simple production that depends on subtle guitar pricks, finger snaps, and the quiet beat of maracas.
McKnight sang the same way, clear and easy, with no need to oversing. Lyrically, he talks about how his wife makes him feel more at ease while he’s in her company.
He sings, “Just look at what you started / I’m out here with my heart in my hands / Like a ’90s R&B video, dancing in the rain / Tryna be your man / Don’t care if I look foolish / Nah, I’m breaking all my rules for this.”
“Feels Like Home” arrives only days after McKnight’s recently released EP While We’re Still Alive. The five-track project contains all-new material, none of which are the four songs that were released in the months preceding its release.
McKnight released a full-length album called This One Is For You, and You Know Who We Are in March. The 10-song LP came after his 2020 album Musikhead.
