Beyoncé has released the new song “Break My Soul,” as promised. The song includes two significant samples: a reworked synth melody from Robin S.’ classic house smash “Show Me Love” and a voice sample from Big Freedia’s 2014 album Just Be Free: “Release ya anger/Release ya mind/Release ya job/Release the time/Release ya trade/Release ya stress/Release the love/Forget the rest.”
Beyoncé’s first piece of music after the announcement of her new album Renaissance is “Break My Soul.” It’s also her first original song since last year’s “Be Alive.” Beyoncé, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, BlaqNmilD, and Jay-Z produced the song. Co-writers include Big Freedia, Allen George, and Fred McFarlane, who penned “Show Me Love.” Renaissance will be released on July 29th.
When Beyoncé deleted her social media profile photographs earlier this month, many suspected she was up to something. The album appears to be named “Act I.” Renaissance is a 16-song album, according to an unverified tweet from Beyoncé Legion’s fan account. Beyoncé appears in a British Vogue cover story with hints of new songs shortly after announcing the album.
